I spyed an older Kato GP35 in SP paint lettered, numbered, but no big SP on the nose. Anyway. just wondering if anyone knows if it is NMRA quick plug or not? Thanks. Ben
What is the stock number or road number?
The first production, of Phase 1a units (stock numbers 37-02B and 37-02B, road numbers 6322 and 6531 for the SP units), don’t have any socket and require a board-replacement decoder such as the Digitrax DH163K0.
The third production, of Phase 1c units (stock numbers 37-3007 and 37-3008, road numbers 6612 and 6623), has a socket, but I believe it’s the 8-pin (2x4) and not the JST “quick plug”.
BTW, I put a DH163K0 into an early Kato SD40-2 (same install as the Phase 1a GP35) and not only was it a piece of cake, it runs like a Swiss watch.
