Does the Kato HO Amtrak F40PH have operating flashing strobe lights like the Spectrum units? I believe the Kato units came out in 2005. Thanks.
nope, no working strobes.

The strobes a nice feature but the Spectrum strobes didn’t appear to be scale sized, not to mention the Spectrum models were nearly a scale foot too low on the roof, and the trucks a scale foot each too far apart. The nose on the Spectrum model had an unsightly flat spot which did not exist on the prototype. It was very difficult to get them scale coupeled distances. As a result of the many flaws, I sold my Spectrum F40PH’s and replaced them with Walthers version, which looked overall much better despite being an inexpensive model. Since then I have added 3 KATO and they are nice too, although not perfect either.
