Kato HO scale AC4400CW diesel locomotive
I purchased the new CP model. This makes for 6 GE AC4400 from Kato on my layout. They all run great and pull well and look great and are very reliable.
Thanks for the review Dave- I have several of the Kato AC4400 locomotives from earlier runs. All run super smooth. Kato detailing is excellent. The Kato units are also a fine starting point for conversion to DCC sound. I installed Soundtraxx Tsunami decoders and love to listen and watch to these units fight gravity pulling a unit coal train.
I bought 2 SD 80 MAC’s a CSX & NS they are the best pullers I have they will pull any thing I hook to them.
Recently purchased my first n-scale Kato C30-7. Very pleased with its smooth operation, however, very disappointed in its lack of coupling and compatibility with others n scale couplers i.e. Atlas accumate and micro-trains rolling stock. Their stock couplers with or without trip pins fail to couple on first, second and more attempts with the other stock couplers. I guess I need to find a way to convert the couplers to a micro-trains coupler.
I bought the BNSF straight DC with intentions of installing the Tsunami sound decoder. The model has good detail but one down side is the ditch lights. They are lit from a single LED that also illuminates the headlights. I will have to install separate LEDs for each ditch light to run off the two extra function of the Tsunami board.
Kato is always a good choice,run smooth.
I purchased the new AC4400CW in the BNSF paint scheme, i love KATO engines! The only complaint I have on the new run is that they skimp’d on the truck detail, the earlier runs the brake cylinders and piping are seperately applied, the current run they are molded in. I’m wondering why they changed it. All in all i did install the soundtraxx decoder in the unit and it sounds great!!! Keep 'em coming KATO!!!
