kato ho track

Dear friends I am working with my track plan , and I have chosen the Kato HO unitrack brand.

I just found that there are quite a few track sections that are not provided in the ho kato line, like flex track and crossing sections , as well as trestles sets etc. Do anyone knows if it is possible to combine this track with other brands track and us flex, crossing, trestles sets etc . If so, what brand, code, is available?. Any advise?

thanks

William,
Yes you can ‘augment’ custom sections of track with Kato Track, I use many pieces for DCC Programming & as power feeders. The ones I have are Code 83, & all I do is unplug the mating socket from the UniTrack section so it leaves both rails open & exposed. Then I just use Code 83 flextrack & code 83 rail joiners to slide it on to connect it & I am in business.
If this were to be a permanent layout I would solder those connections, only after making sure that both sections are level & square to one another. Good track planning, & construction will give you excellent service!
If you would like a picture of my test feeder track I can go take a quick shot of it, it is just a piece of Kato track plugged into a 6 foot switching plate for test purposes.
I think you will find you can customize sections of your railroad very easily with any variety of track components.
Just match the track code, which usually measures out with a caliper, so Code 83 would be 0.083" or near by, & so on. Other track manufactures make ‘transition track’ that can go from one code to another, as in Code 83 down to code 70, so you can really customize if you wish…

TO WILLIAM

KATO HO is code 83 !

Atlas code 83 is going to work well matching .

As Chad mentioned , You will pull the kato uni-joiner off one end . Then use a Atlas rail joiner to hook them together. You will need the cork road under the flex track !

Use the Woodland Scenics Incline system for elevations !

I Hope this helps !

I own the Kato Ho Track myself !
