Kato HO Unitrack roadbed height?

Wierd question I know. I am 1600 miles away from my layout so I can’t measure it. I am looking into screws to screw the track down. Semi perminant I guess. I want to screw into the pink foam, Now I know that seems foolish because the screws won’t really get tight. I have done this before in n scale and with enough screws it does work to keep the track from floating out of square I guess I would say? Keeping the connections straight/flush. The n scale screws are too short for HO.

SO…Can anyone slap a scale/tape/ruler etc. on a piece of track and let me know what the dimention is? mm and inches would be nice

Here is a link to a kit

Looks like those screws are 1/2" which would be too short for my application. While I’m asking, does anyone know where to purchase these same screws that are 1" long? Thanks.

I’m sure what country your in, but in the USA, any hareware store or lumber yard, or BB store. They look like maybe a #4 ? drywall type screw. Maybe 1 1/4" in length, or as long as you want, for better holding. Depends on how thick the foam board is. Get the course thread screws for going into styrofoam. They keep things together real good. I used a bunch when building my railroad, for holding foam scenery sections together, along with caulk.

Mike.

EDIT: You don’t need to buy the Kato screws, or the kit. Just a drill, a bit of the right size to get through the plastic track bed, and a counter sink bit to set the screw head in the plastic bed.
