How do I get the body off of the chassis? Also I have a prepainted Athearn body for an SW1200 that I want to put on a good chassis. How do I place this on the excellent Kato chassis?
It’s been a few years since I put DCC decoders into my three Kato NW2 switchers, and I don’t remember exactly how the shell was removed, but I think you must first remove the couplers and then just pull it straight up. I don’t think you will be able to put an Athearn shell over the Kato chassis because the Kato chassis is solid weight in areas where Athearns are open space, and the Athearn shell probably won’t fit.
