Kato Power Pack Question

I have the Kato power pack (model 22-014). The power pack has odd connectors for the track and accessories that are designed to work with Kato Unitrack. Kato makes an adaptor to connect the power leads to other types of track. As far as I can tell, they do not sell an adaptor to connect the accessory terminals to anything other then Unitrack turnout controls.

How can I connect to the Kato snap-type accessory terminals. I would prefer not to solder wires to the connectors.

Earl

The Unitrack connectors are called " mini-tamiya" connectors, and are available online at some hobby/electrical suppliers. They’re often used in remote control hobby stuff . Try batteryspace.com, that’s where I get mine. They can come with a 6" pigtail of either 14 AWG or 16AWG wire pre-attached, which makes things pretty simple and sweet. So theoretically you could secure them together with standard wire with good ol’ wire nuts if you have issues with soldering.

The separately available mini-tams make working Unitrack with other manufacturer equipment a breeze.

Depending upon the receiver end you need for the powerpack, you’ll have to find either male or female mini-tamiya ends. Check the pics on the site to be sure. And be sure to get the “Mini-Tamiya” instead of the regular Tamiya - there’s a size difference.

Shawnee, thank you for the reply. I don’t mind soldering in general, but I didn’t want to solder wires directly to the connectors on the power pack because the solder would render the connectors unuseable whenever I switch back to the Kato turnout controls.

The mini-tamiya connectors are the ones that connect to the track. The adaptors I am looking for are the snap type connectors on the accessory terminals.

Thank You…

Earl
