Kato SD90-Up-date recommendation

Go to www.katousa.com & see DCC user recommendation.

They are two to three inches longer. I would say that the Kato C44-9W and the SD80/SD90 are my favorite locos. I have approx 20 locos that I run regularly and another 30 that I have retired for viewing purposes only. It seems that one can never have enogh locos.

Charles how do you like your SD90’S.I got 2 CR SD80’S 2 CP SD90’S 2 UP SD90’S and 2 we will deliver SD90’S.I like mine so far.Dont use DCC havent put them together yet.Let me know if they go together fast.

Don’t own any SD’s. May be too big in comparison to my other diesels. I’m not DCC.

I got mine yesterday. I use DCC. I love 'em. I got 2 UPs and one UP we will deliver.

There are BIG ***'S arent they.

I agree they are pretty large, but based on all of the pre-release hype and discussions they are not as big as I had anticipated. They look and run great. Kato did this one right.

When I went home last night I took a look at the new locos and compared them to some of my other diesels. You’re right–they are large. They almost look as though they could be S scale.

I have a Kato C44-9W. I looks and runs great, and is quite hefty. How do the SD-90’s compare to that.Thinking of getting one.

I already had 7 Rail Power SD90’s so i only bought 3 of the kato ones. they are excellent. very heavy, smooth running, excellent detail, and they dont look all that hard to assemble (unlike my RPP units) now if i can figure out how to install the H kit to the kato units, i can get rid of all my RPP ones. I am going to order kato handrails and other parts to finish my last 3 RPP SD90’s. they look like they will work.

here is what i have so far
2 RPP SD90MAC-H UP/flag scheme
1 RPP SD90MAC-H UP
2 RPP SD9043MAC UP (we will deliver)
1 RPP SD90MAC-H D&RGW
1 RPP SD9043MAC D&H
3 Kato SD9043MAC UP
