kato unitrack n scale

I am starting a layout, in n scale, using Kato Unitrack. I put the track together, and connected the track to my new power supply, but the train is not moving. I do have a couple of turnouts, that came with the unitrack packs. I tried looking at the Kato website to see if it had any tips, but I could not find any. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

First, check all of your connections again, making sure everything is connected correctly and there aren’t any loose wires.

Next, you need to figure out if the problem is the track (power not getting to it), the engine, or the power pack.

To do this, you need some sort of test light. It can be as simple as a 12V dc bulb with two wires or a multi-tester.

Start at the power pack and see if the bulb lights when you touch each connection. Work your way to the track and then test the track by touching a wire to each rail.

Eventually you’ll find where the light doesn’t light and you know power isn’t getting to that point. Then you can figure out why (loose connection, etc.)

If there is power to all the rails, then it’s a problem with the engine.

Mine works fine, but now I’m going to sell it because I can’t use it for MR… or I just don’t want to.
