Kato Viaduct and Amtrak acela

Hello, I am a first time poster to this site and i have been looking around for other kato related posts. I havent found any. I am wondering three things.

  1. Is the amtrak acela and the kato double viaduct set kit compatable.

  2. What kind of sound decoder should I use for an Amtrack acela and

  3. Can i take out the track on one of the double viaduct peices. I wanted to replace it with a double crossover , and is that possible.

I am sort of new to this and i do not know what is compatible and what is not and i dont want to waste $500 on something that wont work together. Any tips wil be appriciated

First off, a word of wisdom is you can get an acela train set for somewhere around 200 dollars. Also, look on ebay, and you’ll find a good deal I’m sure.

The double viaduct set is compatible with most passenger trains. Some longer cars rub the edge on the single track viaduct. I’m guessing you’re thinking N-Scale. As far as the double-crossover, it would have to be custom fit to raise it to the correct height, and would not fit in a standard double track viaduct straight piece. I suppose you could kitbash something if you are feeling daring, but it goes against the easy plug-n-play design of KATO Unitrack.

hope this helps,

What scale are you doing this in?
