Glad to see Kato’s brought out a switcher that’ll fit my era. Now I’ve just got to wait for them to release it in Zebra stripes.
I saw it, I bought it, I love it. Digitrax is making a decoder for it. It should be out soon.
Great piece of work by Kato. Little noisy until it gets broken in, then it sounds like any Kato, great beautiful, quiet, superb pulling power on level track, (about 17 50’ cars - 1-1/2% grade about 12 50’ cars).
Like the era would like to see one for the erie or nyc
I would like to see this in a SP version or just an all black or grey version. And whatno DCC?
It handles all the switching and yard duties on the Indian Creek Railroad. Looks great, runs great (after break-in).
The engine and quality I’ve been waiting for. Hoping for some Michigan road names.
I plan on getting a few of these in the UP road and hope that some one will make a decoder that will drop in this unit. It sure looks sweet!
Just another beautiful piece of equipment as only Kato can provide. I cannot wait for the matching decoder for it [see Frank Pecoraro’s comments dd Mar 29, 2007 10:21 PM]. About the rear cab light, it is just unbelievable how simply it is made made; thanks Kato!!!
Hope to see it in Union Pacific livery!
What a gem! I would like to see it in ATSF zebra paint, the blue and yellow is too recent for me.
Needs to have a decoder for it soon, and yellow overspray on the front needs to be corrected
Another Kato product that fills a need. Pulling 11 cars on the level isn’t much. Need 2 to pull 25 cars. Painters will strip this one, sure sign of the roadname to be done next. Kato should do a painted black or undecorated first! It could be a good seller.
Hopefully the pulling power will increase considerably once the shine wears off the wheels. Or perhaps atlas or someone else will produce an axle equipped with traction tires. That said, I am looking forward to purchasing one or more.
Sounds really nice…I mean an interior free of light tubing…good traction…properly sized…all things we are coming to expect from Kato! Come on with more roadnames!!!
Great item, I have both road #'s in atsf and they run well together. Meets all of my needs in the yard. I just got my decoders for them in the mail also. Thanks Kato and Digitrax.
I’ll probably get one for my steel works. Looks good. Might have to use the local switcher to switch out long strings of flat cars, though.
would be perfect for my road ,
i like this engine a lot. it seems like it would be perfect for my layout. about the only thing iwould change would be the yellow overspray on the nose. i dont believe that santa fe had overspray like that on this paint scheme.
