KCS and Eastern USA.

Does the KCS come to Eastern USA and particularly did it ever appeared on the CSX.

Thanks in advance.

Short answer is no, the KCS does not operate in the eastern US. the furthest east it came was New Orleans until they bought the MidSouth, now they come to Meridian, MS.

KCS cars could be seeen anywhere in the US on any railroad. they would not be as frequent as other roads because the KCS is a smaller road and has fewer cars, so the changces of seeing one is proportionally smaller.

KCS engines might show up on a run through train on either the CSX or NS, but it would be relatively rare, once again smaller fleet means fewer opportunities.

I have seen KCS loco’s & grain cars mixed in IC&E consists (which led to more purchases, doh!) & I have also seen CSX in ICE trains, all of which may have been headed to Chicago. (however, I did NOT see a CSX & KCS engine in the same consist) When I worked in suburban Chi, I used to enjoy ICE trains. I know that it is not east enough for you, however, if ‘your’ RR is owed HP hours form KCS it ‘may be plausable’ to through one into a compatible consist. Although I don’t have a picture of it I did see a FerroMex -9 in a BNSF tank train in La Crosse, WI in Sept '10. Wierd things can show up anywhere, but I won’t go as far as mixing BNSF & UP together, -ever…

KCS and CSX have a contract with Schenider to send semis from Out west to a terminal in Ohio. As such, a KCS or two and a csx or two perhaps come screaming up the NYC Bee Line every morning and night with almost a hundred trailers and containers. Now, my understanding is that once they get to the Schnieder plant, the KCS locos turn right back around and take the next train West, but If you need to go further East then that, it could be argued that CSX needed to pull a KCS engine from Ohio East in lieu of one of their own earlier than that engine was pulling out with the Schnider train replace that loco with another that was not available for the earlier train but wil be by the time the Schneider needs to rock and roll.

Don’t know about KCS, but it’s still freaky to me to look up and see UP and BNSF in what should be a green & gold SR consist.[:'(]

The train flashwave is refering to operates out of KC(?) to Marion…It usually has KCS power that is parked near the Pole Lane Road crossing in Marion.

Thanks for your replies, Ohio is East enough for me, I will not fear to run my sole KCS loco in consist with my CSC units.

Thanks again
