KCS Executive Chairman Haverty enjoys anniversary rail tour

Many happy returns sir. May you continue to ply the high iron.

Neat; now if Mr. Haverty were to purchase the rail line over Raton Pass and Glorietta Pass then the route of the Chief could be saved.

It’s nice to see someone of his position appreciate where he came from. Must be a great man to work for.

I agreed with Mr. Black all four times!

I like this story. Nice that he took his children and grandchildren. With his years of experience, he was surely able to keep it fun and interesting for all of them. And think of all the awesome scenery they witnessed.

I heard a rumor Fred Frailey was on board, polishing the shoes! That might explain his MIA with his regular column.

A good railroader and a gentleman.

Yes, that would be nice. Too bad Mike Haverty left The Santa Fe. Perhaps, The ATSF would’ve remained ATSF and not a part of ‘Bun Sniff’ and the passenger main would remain intact. Thanks to the WITCH gov. Susana Martinez, the Southwest Chief is in grave danger thus inconveniencing lineside riders, the BSA who use the Raton stop to access Philmont Scout Camp and riders who travel through New Mexico’s Sange De Cristo Mountains

It is nice to see a railroad executive ride the trains. Most never experience this great way to great first hand knowledge of railroad operations. On my seventieth birthday I took a RR trip on Amtrak all around the country. From the LIRR to NY, New Orleans , L.A., Seattle, Chicago, NY and on to LIRR. I saw some KCS engines in Meridian, Miss. It is a great RR so I bought some KCS stock.
Haverty is a great RR president because he knows operations and how to achieve his railroad’s mission.

I know Mike and his lovely wife from our years working for the Santa Fe.

He loved his work and was quite innovative which encouraged similar behavior from his colleages. This was further demonstrated with his tenure with KCS. The KCS was raised from a relatively obscure railroad to one of much significance under his lwadership.

I purchased KSU stock because of Mr/ Haverty and was not disappointed. My only complaint was, I sold my stock at $75

Did the shareholders of the KCS foot the bill for such a luxurious trip? Was it somewhat justified by Mike courting any of the shippers using the railroad…or was it just a family affair? Most impressive and it is good to know that the chief executive likes his work and what he has accomplished.
