KCS Orders 30 New SD70ACe's

KCS has ordered 30 new SD70ACe locomotives from the Electro-Motive Division of General Motors Corporation to be delivered in fourth quarter 2005.

It looks like EMD is having fairly good response to their new offering. NS has ordered 52 SD70M-2’s, UP has ordered 115 SD70ACe’s, Montana Rail Link Ordered I think 12 SD70ACe’s.

I can’t wait! First MRL, now KCS…the paint schemes should look great on these units.

I just hope somebody besides expensive Overland (brass) brings a HO version out at some point in the future.

It seems the SD-70 is modern idea of what the SD-40 was when it came out and prompted orders in the 1000’s.

For my 2 cents I think the SD 70 is the best compared to these super horsepower units. Yeah their nice, but for 80% of railroad operations not practical.
