More KCS-owned engines are showing up with yellow and red paint schemes. This SD60 1870 and it’s sister 1871 have been repainted into the Southern Belle. They are destined for KCS’s subsidiary in Panama.

This former ICG GP10 is painted in solid yellow with red stripes, which is similar to KCS’s Belle. I don’t know if this predates KCS’s reintroduction of the Belle? The cab windows are plated over, making it look like a RCL unit, though one description on locophotes says it’s used for MOW duties.

I’ll tell you what, I really like the KCS Southern Belle scheme on the standard cabs better than on the wide bodies. Hopefully when they do the KCS units like these, they put the KCS logo on the front of the nose and sides like this, rather than the KCS text in a square on the nose.
Since when did the Panama Canal Railway get SD60’s? Are these former KCS locos, or where they acquired elsewhere? What happened to the SD40-2’s being rebuilt by MMA up in Derby, Maine? How many locos will Canal be getting between these 40-2’s and 60’s? I know they’re busy down there, but it doesn’t seem like a big enough of a line to have much more than 2 or 3 trains running at any given time. Will their solo GP9 and ten? F40PH’s be staying down there? Tons of questions - but I’m excited to see these repaints. KCS certainly has the best looking locos out there right now!
