KCS Southern Belle engine - paint time?

I’m starting out once again after a couple of decades being away from trains, and trying to learn as I go along, bear with this newbie please. I’m wanting to build an n-gauge KCS layout with two stations that I remember from my childhood. Accumulating data I’m finding that the Southern Belle paint scheme of black with yellow and red stripes, and a silver roof, is easy to find for the passenger cars(Con-cor only?), but no engine is available (that I can find) with the same paint scheme.

I don’t remember specifically from my childhood what color the passenger engine was, but I don’t think it was the yellow predominant color for the passenger locomotives that I am finding for sale. I can find pictures of the black engines on the web, so were there ever any n gauge engines ever produced? If not, what would be the best route to go in making one? I have no experience in miniature painting, but I guess I could give it a shot.

Thanks!!

John

Hope this helps.

Also try the KCS homepage there are lots of pictures but most are B/W

You can find a picture of just about anything on Fallen Flags, but its a
HUGE site so it will take you a while.

Sorry I don’t know anything about N scale.

Life-Like has produced nice KCS passenger E’s - Check you local hobby shop or eBay…

Thanks for the information, here is a link to the black color scheme that is so elusive, that’s what I’m looking for in the engine color scheme. Would it be a big project to repaint the yellow engine in n-scale? (and it look nice?)

Thanks very much for your time and information.
