Lake Charles is a river port I suppose by dint of being located on the Intracoastal Waterway. So a barge port rather than a oceangoing Gulf port. I also didn’t realize that the Red River was navigable that far, so thank you for that.
Paul, Lake Charles is both. It is deep water ocean going port as well as having the Intercoastal Waterway cutting through to the south of the port, barge traffic serving the region. A lot of deep water oil tankers go in and out the refineries in the Lake Charles area in addition to Port of Lake Charles bulk break terminal docks.
