Nice catch, Mark!

//grumbles about being stuck at work

Yeah, those were really nice!

I saw the two KCS unit Monday as power on a train sitting in IHB’s Norpaul Yard. Also sighted them today still with the same SOO SD60’s Fuzzy saw them with on the service tracks at Bensenville Yard. I would link you to the pictures but rrpicturearchives is down right now.

[8D] Impressive shots - especially the 40x. [:o)]

What are the odds of photographing two foreign road class units from two engine series (SD40X and SD40-3) on one train??? Excellent work Mark- stuff like that is what makes railfanning fun!

So the secret to getting those rare railfan shots is … go to the dentist more often?

I guess I floss too much to get KCS units in Milwaukee.

Great shots Mark. The fall color is a nice touch too. One time I got a slide of a beautiful red fox in that same spot.

Nah, here’s the way you get those rare shots…

  1. ALWAYS carry a camera! Keep your batteries charged, and memory card sufficiently empty. (Similar rules apply for those of you that use film…)
  2. Look both ways when you cross the railroad tracks. Note that I did not say IF, I said WHEN! Drive a mile or two or fifty out of your way if you have to… [:o)]
  3. Shoot lots of boring, ordinary stuff. One day, you’ll get a nice surprise!

It can also help to know friendly railroaders that give you a heads-up when something interesting is on its way… But that didn’t apply in this case…!

Yea that Soo SD60M isn’t too common either anymore, nice shot! I saw the same one today heading out of town with a dual flags CP SD40-2 in Tosa.

Cheers!

And even if you don’t, it’ll be cool in 20 years (promise)

Pretty neat! Do you know where they’re headed?

True, very true. Stuff that is common today won’t be tomorrow! I wish I had more pictures of the WC… [:(]

South. [swg] Seriously, they went to Bensenville, and probably headed back to home rails via the ICE.
