Keeping the Fallen Flags Going, Anyone?

One of these days I want to take a couple modern engines (ie: SD70M, AC4400CW) and paint them Rio Grande. And if I like it then I just might do some more.

I know that Tower 55 has some GEVOs that are painted up that way, and I know I’ve seen some pictures of someone that did likewise but I would like to see if anyone of you have done so. Do you have any pictures to show forth?

Someone done it a while back on ebay, he made a ton of cash on them!!

Here is a recent photo of a UP heritage Loco in Rio Grande colors:

Oh, Yea the SP will go on forever on my layout, I will definatly get the EVO in black widow when it comes out, I’ve got an AC6000 in grey\bloody nose. Recently did these FA’s in black widow even though SP never had any FA’s. Sp just keeps going and going.

BLI did the AC6000 in SP gray and red. Three units had been ordered but the UP purchased the SP before the GE AC6000’s were availble and the UP received all of the units in UP colors, but BLi made the SP version available to anyone who wanted it.

I belive the D&RGW would have purchased both GE’s at some point and SD70Aces.

I would be interesting to see them in D&RGW, but updated to reflect some variation of the paint scheme.

What railroad did he do them in?

I wonder if D&RGW was till around today if they would have kept using EMDs or would they have bought some GEs? Would they stayed with the black and orange or would they have gone retro like Santa Fe did with the war bonnet?
I would try to model both.

I have a Bachmann Spectrum Dash 8-40CW thats gonna bepainting in Milwaukee Road orange and Black scheme dont know when its going to happen tho. Other than that I have Milwaukee Road, Wisconsin Central, SOO line running on my modern layout. I am looking for some Macs cheap enough to make them into WC, Milw, and SOO.

Here is two pictures of some Santa Fe’s that one of my fellow clubguys did:

The Chicago, Burlington and Quincy still exsists on my layout … set in the present day. Steam still lives, passenger trains still run, model railroading is fun!

I’m planning on painting a SD70MAC in Southern’s Tuxedo of course.[:)]

Here you go. http://cgi.ebay.com/RIO-GRANDE-HO-Kato-SD70MAC-Custom_W0QQitemZ6062219622QQihZ009QQcategoryZ19134QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem But I think it would look better in a tuxedo[:D][:)][8D]

I have an old Bachmann Spectrum F40PH…that I’m tempted to paint in Penn Central’s blue/yellow (MTA) colors.

I’m thinking of doing one or more in D&RGW Skitrain colors but then that isn’t really part of the topic. (My bad)

MoPac is still ALIVE AND WELL on my pike!

zgardner18!!!
where did you get/take those pictures, they look like they were taken on my club layout.

see!!

PENNSYLVANIA!

I’d like to make a modern day Pennsy…Can you imagine it? A PRR SD70ACe![:D] Ah, it makes me drool just thinking about it.

But for now…It is but a dream…So, we’ll have to settle for a PRR DD40AX hauling a daily Roadrailer train. [^]

I cannot take credit for the painting…I bought it off of eBay.[tup]

what about a F40PH in Western Pacific {silver and orange} leading the cz cheers Paul

Fallen Flags are all I’ve GOT!! But then, I’m stuck in a 1940-50 time warp, so the mega-mergers are sometime in the future. However, if I WERE modeling contemporary railroading, it would still be Rio Grande-Southern Pacific and other pre-merger power as needed (No UP!). But for right now, I’m still having too much fun with my mallets.
