Ken Kirkwood

I have seen a few pictures of his work from time to time, and always enjoyed it- he’s a very talented modeler whose era is pre-WWI, my favorite. This month’s Trackside Photos has a great shot, what Malcolm Furlow once called, “The train as supporting actor.” In this case, it’s the crowd seeing off a newly elected Senator on his way to DC. It’s a classic whistle stop tour pose: the Senator and wife on the observation platform, a crowd in period clothes, Model Ts everywhere. The car looks like one of the old Westerfield Yellow Kid cars.

Hoping MR runs more of his stuff- I have seen a few picture, and an article on modeling a scene, but hopefully we’ll get to see more.

We can only run the photos people send us. [:)]

Not meant as a criticism, just appreciative feedback. Guy’s a great modeler. I have seen some pictures in the Walthers catalogue, a few years back, and quite apart from the models and the ability to compose a scene, his skill with Western scenery is striking.
