The one that features “Kit” from Knight Rider, talking about all the new electronics the locomotive has, (gps, locomotive status like fuel, tonnage, all that) and featuring a nice clean NS locomotive?
Two trains of thought…GE and NS have a deal for Norfolk Sothern’s next locomotive deal, and GE needed a Class 1 to promote their products features to the public…or both NS and GE are prepping the public for some version of PTC/remote operation?
Great commercial. My own thoughts are that your first thought is the one. It is nice PR and looking at it aside from being a rail fan - as Jane Public - It just gives me a little sound bite I can understand and shows me that trains (which I would normally ignore until they annoyed me) are very up-to-date.
CSX has always had great commercials and they inform me without giving me more information than I can handle or even care about at all.
I mute 99% of the commercials, but a train, even in a commercial, is always interesting.
I just wish for once Knight Rider would depict the Firebird Trans Am correctly, “Kitt, we have to chase the villians!” Chugg chhug shpuuutter, clonk. “Sorry David, my electronic ignition system just failed and my automatic transmission also just packed it.”
Well thats what kept happening to my nephews …[;)]
