Kline KCC diesel engines how good are they?

I am thinking of getting a KCC Kline SF sd 75M diesel engine. The engine has TMCC and railsounds. They cost $275.00 which I think is a good price. How does kline compare to lionel and atlas? What do you guys think about k line? Should I get this engine?

K-line CC engines are excellent values and have been getting better every year. I’m sure their SD75’s will be no exception. Don’t hold your breath on them though, they are not scheduled to ship until December.

I have never been disappointed with a KCC engine. I own two GG-1s, the A5 steamer, and an FM Trainmaster, all conventional. I’ve got an EP-5 coming soon and an SD75 on order too.

I’m not a rivet counter, but the KCC engines are nicely detailed for my tastes and they run great. For the money, I think they’re a great buy that I can’t recommend highly enough.

The only caveat is the delivery schedule. Be ready to give K-Line your money now and not get your engine till later. Sometimes much later. I believe they show December 05 right now for the SD70. I ordered mine on 12/31/04 so I’m looking at almost a year. And if you wait too long, don’t expect to see your 2005 KCC engine in '05.

Again, I think it’s worth the wait. Your patience level may vary!

I don’t have any of their diesels but i have had a B&O Mikado for about a year and I have been very pleased with it. I just ordered a C&O Mikado to go with it, at $320 I couldn’t pass it up. And that includes TMCC and RS. [^]

I got the GG-1 and it pulls like all heck no gripes from me. Good Products.

Excellent value!

I have the CSX version on order.

I’ve had no problems with my KCC Trainmaster (or with any of my K-Line locos, for that matter.) I did re-wire the motors of the Trainmaster in series so I could get better smoke output. Overall I find the KCC offerings to be a great value.

Incidentally, the KCC Trainmaster and matching smoking caboose look fantastic with the 1958 Lionel set cars (I’ve forgotten the set number) in between! I just acquired the cars to build that consist and I’m like a kid at Christmas.

I’ve been a member of the the KCC since the GG-1. The only KCC loco I don’t have is the A-5. I had a board burn out and nearly catch fire on my TMCC EP5. I sent it back and was repaired within a reasonable time. It runs very well and I am completely happy with it. I’ve ordered the Alaska SD70MAC w/15"cars this year. I look forward to K-line’s new offering each year. It’s becoming a tradition.
