Korea-China high speed rail link could open by 2030
This would require unprecedented levels of cooperation between Pyongyang and Seoul, which seems very unlikely given the current political climate.
It will be built when North Korea comes to its senses. More likely to see HSTs here, as soon as we can find a way to get them built with private funding.
They will probably have to get Kim-Yung-Un a private car or a train of his own.
You’re all forgetting the 1000 lb Gorilla in the room, China, if China wants a HSR connection with South Korea, no matter what Kim-Yung Un wants or whines about, China will get it.
I’d never ride that train; how could anyone trust NK not to stop, cause problems, or take anyone off the train, they wanted to? If China & SK wanted the train, build a tunnel under the Yellow Sea

This proposal has about as much chance of coming to fruition as Linus has of seeing the Great Pumpkin. Nothing was said about whether this is a proposition made by South Korean companies by themselves, or what the Chinese position on the proposal is. This idea is as fleeting as a bucket of steam.
This proposal appears to assume that North and South Korea will be reunified by 2030 in order for it to go forward. Otherwise, I don’t see how it could go forward in the current state of relations between North and South Korea. Technically they are still in a ‘state of war’ as both Koreas have never signed a peace-treaty.
