Krauss Maffei

Not sure if this is the right forum but does anybody know if Krauss Maffei built locomotives and if so can they point me to a web site. Thanks

Diesel Hydraulics were built for export to the US.

Alco also produced some Diesel Hydraulics, sometims refered to as “Alco-Haulics”.

I’ve always thought we need one of these in Rio Grande livery in O gauge…especially the ‘cab’ units as compared to the later hood units.

I am not aware of any.

By the way, the only survivor I’m aware of one SP made into a camera car to provide video for simulator training. Isn’t it ugly? I can just see a model with one of those x10 cameras in it. When I worked at Illinois Institute of Technology, one of our subsidiaries built these simulators - that was back when the AAR was on campus. Anway, here is a link: http://espee.railfan.net/sp-camera_car.html

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! I think they’re rather handsome.

Should there be a model of this locomotive made in O Scale or in O Gauge proportions?

Is it memorable or just rare?

Andrew

Here’s a picture of the Rio Grande unit. A bit more handsome, if you ask me. The high altitude was not too kind to its performance, and keeping an inventory of parts was not economical, so it was sold to the SP. www.rr-fallenflags.org/drgw/drgw4003.jpg
