Kudos to Fasttracks!

I just have to say what a wonderful service they have! Speediest delivery across the Atlantic that I’ve seen… I ordered on the 23, they shipped the same day and just on the 26:th I had it in the mailbox! The shipping cost was also very reasonable! (unlike some other suppliers… ). So, that was really good!

Don’t forget to add that thier products are outstanding !

I have had the same excellent service with them, they are truly a class act. Their website is very professional with a great many “how-to” videos. Couple their outstanding service with an excellent product and one has a winning combination.

I really like Fast Tracks (FT) turnouts. I have not made any myself. (I buy them off eBay assembled, wired, and painted.) However, they have worked flawlessly on my layout these past 4+ years.

I used to use Atlas turnouts but no more. The FT turnouts both look terrific and operate without a hitch. No goin’ back for me…

And the system offers a gift that keeps on giving. I am getting ready to close the twinned mains loop on my new layout, and decided, after a lot of hemming and hawing, that trying to shoehorn one of my long straight Fast Tracks #8’s into the end of a curve just could not be done at my stage in the hobby. Earlier, I would have lived with the weird fit just 'cuz, but no longer. This layout is to be a step up, so I have to get turnouts to fit properly. How do I do that? Well, I use my Fast Tracks know-how to darned well build a turnout in place that fits both exit routes to a T. I measure, bend, cut, shape, solder, and although it took me over three hours (first turnout in six years, but also it really is a custom fit), I have a smooth and effective double curved two-way that allows me a smooth alignment to my yard throat on that end of it.

Fast Tracks teaches you how to improvise to get what you want out of a turnout. It won’t be a piece of cake, especially odd geometries, but it you keep to general principles, such as maintaining your gauge throughout the turnout, and have the materials and tools, you will be fine.

Crandell

I have made four FT turnouts and my experience has been the same as Tom and Crandell: their turnouts work flawlessly. By following their excellent tutorials anyone can have the same high quality turnouts for their layout.

My dealings with fastracks has been as mentioned above, stellar! Highly recommended!

Yep, as others have said, Fast Tracks is a class A operation. I have had the pleasure of meeting Tim in person at the Toronto show a couple years ago and see some of his work! Awesome! His jigs work beautifully and I can easily make a turnout in an evening.

It will have over 20 #6 Fast Tracks turnout on the new area I am hand laying all the tracks for on the SLOW. With a bit of tweeking they are without any doubt thee best out there, and I made them myself… Many other of his jigs are helpful for those interested in hand laid track as well.

I agree! I made two threeway turnouts without using a jig. The first isn’t very pretty, but it is functional. The second one looks and works great, and I had to keep the ends real close as they are going onto a rail barge.

Fast Tracks absolutely rocks. Their products and service are first-rate. I’ve placed several orders with them over the last couple of years and it has always been a 5-star experience. Initially I hesitated in investing heavily in their system, but I took the plunge and I am glad I did. I highly recommended their products.

I ordered my kit, it took a couple of days for Fast Tracks to fill the order since they were out of one of the items (hey it’s a hobby no big deal), but when it shipped the package arrived three days later. I’m hoping to watch the DVD this weekend and maybe even give one a try. This is a very class act business, I wrote an email asking about the status of my order and received a reply back rather quickly. And like someone earlier said they don’t over charge for the shipping, I used the Expedited Postal Service to ship and it took 3 days to receive not the 6 to 12 estimated which was a pleasant surprise.

Several members of our club said that they owned one and that the system is great. They brought some samples of finished turnouts and they are way better than any commercial turnouts (no hinged or rail joiner connected points make for a much better turnout) Anyhow, if your reading about Fast Tracks and your sitting on the fence, hand laid turnout are the way to go.

Great Company…

I bought a bunch of jigs, one being an O scale 4.5 turnout. I built one in the summer and this fall installed it on the layout and had nothing but trouble getting it to line up and work properly. When I put the gauge to it, it was all too tight. I measured with calipers and wrote to Fast Tracks with my problem. They discovered I had bought the only fixture in O scale of that size and the CAD drawing, (which the cutter uses) were about 3% too small. They cut me a new one and had it and a bag of rail and ties to me within a week!

Thanks,

Peter

We used Fast Tracks on our office layout and they look great and work beautifully. I will be using a lot of Fast Tracks switches on my home layout.

I agree with all the kudos so far on the list - they are a great company.

Best thing about FastTracks is they are FUN. Making my own turnouts is now my favorite aspect of this hobby.

I agree from Belgium too, Rolls Royce turnouts whith first class service even over Atlantic ocean.

I use a #6 a #8 curved and straight and a custom #8 curved made especially for me by Tim in Nscale code 55…

All the jigs produce accurate turnouts, may be to much for Nscale as the wing rails need a little more play at the frog as Lance Midleheim explained a few months ago in an article in MR because of Nscale locomotives wheels play.

The turnouts produced are first rates anyway and work whithout problems since a little more 3 years.

A good tip is to use silver charged solder to solder the throwbar to avoid broken solder points; I learned it from articles published by Tony Koester in MR for his homemade turnouts.

These jigs also have open my way to full handlaid some turnouts on my layout.

Another good tip, buy a crossover jig, You have the turnout jig and the crossover jig in one piece.

I firmly beleive Fastracks is one of these company which have open new horizons to our fabulous hobby.
