I hope this isn’t considered a useless thread, but I like to give credit where credit is due. Last week I had a speaker blow out in one of my PCM PAs. I called them and explained the situation and they sent me a new speaker within a week. They didn’t give me any grief at all!!
The only thing that is sort of a pain is that they sent me a speaker without any leads, so I will have to solder the wiring harness from the bad speaker to the replacement speaker, but I suppose that isn’t that big of a deal.
I wouldn’t consider it a worthless thread…it’s always nice to hear when a vendor stands behind their product and takes care of the problem at hand. Threads such as this also help to reinforce the list of reliable vendors and help those who are thinking of taking the plunge on a new item.
I think you are who I was looking for!! Was it you that said you figured out how to turn up the volume in the PB? I thought it was good, but I was wrong. It is a little low.
It is good to know they are good about sending parts. I have a bad wheelset on one of the PAs and I forgot to mention that when I called about the speaker.
Also, was it also you that said you replaced the drawbars with Kadees, and if so, what type of coupler did you use? Thanks.
Yes, the PB’s speaker wires are out of phase. You need to remove the shell from the PB unit and find the rear speaker wire connector. It needs be be reversed. Just pull it carefully off of the circuit board and make sure you plug it back on reversing pin 1 and 2. Makes a big difference in the sound. In our group of six A and B sets of PA’s, every single B unit was incorrect.
The coupler problem is not quite as simple. You need to drill a new hole in the frame to close couple the units.
I will give my warmest regards as well. They answered me and helped me promptly today. The e-mail I sent was answered almost immediately after they opened this morning.
I had a similar thing happen to me with Kalmbach an issue of MR went missing and within 4 days I had a replacement bearing in mind 1 day was a Sunday and the Monday was a public holiday (no post) I got it on the Tuesday, oh and did I forget to mention I live in the UK. That’s service.
