Guys, I posted about my 1044. I have a KW soul owner, case has never been messed with.
I need to replace the cord, so I need to drill the welds out in the bottom to access the bottom cord attachment points? Do you have to bolt together after? How do you do this replacement?
Also. Could the circuit Breaker be bad if the thing humms. I got one at a show to see if that was bad. The new breaker is very different than the old 50’s design. very modern in fact. The attachment point for the breaker in the KW is srewed to the top, so that is simple. Now, where do I solder the wide copper band to and the wire that leads to the breaker light and the other wire leading to the screw posts for the constant on. Do you have any pics of how you soldered the wires onto that new modern breaker?
Thanks Chris
If the transformer humms there is electric going into it, may need to be cleaned up inside due to age of the transformer, TRY CLEANING FIRST!!! An old rag should help and some rubbing alcohol(non scented.
There are many thins to check out on any transformer before buying any parts, take the cover off first and look at the roller wheels-are the wheels pitted or extremely dirty? Are all the wires in place?

another common problem is the internal buss bar that attaches the common posts together inside. check to see if the rivets popped.
I pulled the cover off. A wire that goes from the breaker to the accessory voltage was off. A rivet holding the wire to the breaker came off, so that might be it. I did buy a new breaker though. have any of you ever done a new breaker in the KW? I will leave it alone if that wire fixes the issue. Boy I love that KW. It was my dads whe he was a teen in the 50’s. I have used this thing since I was 4. I am now 31. I was ticked when I could not use it!

Figured out the problem! A wire off the breaker was the culprit! IT works fine again.
Thanks for the help though guys!
