I tried the search function, and couldn’t come up with anything on the KW, so I thought I would ask.
I think the little breaker in one of my KW’s has gone bad. I have two KW’s, and have been dependable for many years. The whistle control on the “good” one doesn’t work, but other than that- it’s fine. The one that’s bad, clicks and goes off.
I’m not drawing too power to overload it, and have switched them and it still does it just powering accessories.
Who stocks parts for these? I believe I replaced that “breaker” in there quite some years ago if memory serves me. I hadn’t gotten my trains out in years…now the kids are gone, it’s getting too expensive to shoot with lead being @ 2.50lb. (my other hobby) and I thought I’d set up a layout, then this happens!
None of my stuff has any of the fancy DCC or etc- I’ve been out of it a long time! Man, have things changed!
If you need a substitute for the original circuit breaker, you can use an automotive auto-resetting breaker. They are not hard to find at auto parts stores. I think that 10 amperes is about right for the KW.
[#welcome] Bob’s recommendation of a 10 Amp automotive breaker is spot on. The breakers I use are made by Buss. Be sure to pick up a blade-type fuse holder when you get the breaker. All you need to do is remove the older breaker and replace with the fuse holder, then just shorten the tabs on the new breaker and plug it into the fuse holder.
