Can anyone tell me what exactly what colors did the L&N use on their passenger cars? Was it their L&N blue and gray paint used on their boxcars and engines?
I think they were blue with a gray roof. Yellow lettering.

What era are you modeling? This would make a difference, also what train. The L&N had cars painted Tuscan Red using Standard Modified block font for service with the Pennsy, cars for use with the Southern"s Crescent matched thier stainless steel cars with lettering using Gothic font. The Mobile River was painted with a red letter board to match the SP cars for the Crescent & Sunset LImited. The most prevelant scheme was dark blue with a grey roof & black underbody & trucks. The December L&N Historical Society magazine has an article by Bob Chapman on modeling L&N’s single window 79’ coaches in HO. He uses Floquil 110012 Dark Blue, 110013 Reefer Grey and 110050 Grimy Black paints on these cars.

I,m modeling the early 40,s to the 50,s.I,ve seen pics of engine 152 pulling some that are blue and gray .I was wondering if Floquil or Pollyscale made these colors,or what combo of paints I can mix to get the correct colors.I think the train was called the Bluebird?
Only thing I can think of is the Cincinatti to New Orleans Humming Bird which began service in 1946. I will keep looking through the information I have, also if you let me know where it operated I can ask some of the guys in the NMRA division here. Some of them may know.
