LA POSADA

I just got back from spending 2 days at the la posada hotel in winslow arizona. What a great train watching experience of a lifetime! Imagine sitting in rocking chairs a few feet from six tracks, with a cold drink in your hand watching over 90 trains passing in a day.and top it off with fine food and a atmosphere that my wife enjoyed.all night long rail fans gather in the trackside courtyard discussing their favorite subject.I plan on returning soon and my wife said she would return with me.

How are the Hotel Rooms clean and rate per night?

…There used to be a La Pasada restaurant in Kingman Az…right at the eastern edge of town on the south side of Rt. 66 as it was still the main route through there. It was brand new about 1970…Bar and restaurant.
A Ramada Inn was on the same grounds…
That La Pasoda Hotel in Windslow, Az seemed to be having a real revival from the article in the recent TRAINS mag…

Here’s a link to their website:

Sounds like a place I’d like to try myself…

Being that close to the right of way, was it hard to sleep?

the rooms run about 90 dollars a night, the rooms are very clean and well decorated, since the building is old noise thru walls is noticable.and the noise of the trains is minimum,do to room locale. The best thing being when the trains would stop on the siding the crew would talk with you.
