LA subway to tunnel under Beverly Hills High School
NIMBY nitwits!! When it’s done they will probably want to know why it wasn’t done sooner.
They should tunnel under BHS and every high school in LA, Orange, Riverside and San Bernadino countys. This could reduce the cost of school bussing and simplify transportation to and from interscholastic sporting events. No need for busses and cars for players and fans just get on the subway.
The alignment of Pittsburgh, PA’s new North Shore Connector light rail line passes under the DelMonte Foods office building. Tunneling was done with no interruption to DelMonte’s operations and no harm at all to the building. Today’s tunneling techniques are sophisticated, even in seismic zones. Not to worry, BHHS authorities. Just be sure to ask for your own stop. I’d call it, “High School Underground, 90212.”
It will be interesting to watch them sue to stop construction and then sue again after it is built because there isn’t a convenient station. Once again only the lawyers win, everybody else loses.
Instead of paying lawyers, why not use the same money to engineer a station, or are BHHS students too precious to use a subway?
