LA to SD radio frequencies

I was shut out on tickets for the 3751 San Diego trips, but as luck would have it,it appears I will be in the area on business,so I’m thinking of chasing it. I know it will be difficult to keep up with her,so I was thinking monitoring the radio might help. Can anyone provide all the frequencies I would need for the territory between LAUPT and San Diego? Any assisstance will be greatly appreciated.

Tom

I have found this website run by a local San Diego area railfan who is advising people to NOT NOT NOT try to chase this 3751 steam special anywhere near San Diego. There will ALSO be a MAJOR Rock and Roll Marathon the very SAME weekend. Please avoid the San Diego area if at all possible.

Please—Please look at this very informative website before making a decision. It looks like driving near San Diego will be a MAJOR HEADACHE. I would reccommend picking a spot somwhere near Fullerton or Santa Ana and WATCHING the steam special pass south and then north. If you do that you will have a RELAXED time with NO traffic headaches.

For Radio frequencies the basic ones to monitor for the railroad dispatch currently are:
160.650 LA to Fullerton (BNSF San Bernardino DS )

160.560 Fullerton to San Diego (Metrolink San Diego Dispatcher)

If you are close to downtown LA you can monitor the LAUPT TERMINAL area on

160.815 Metrolink River Subdivision

Here is that well done website with advice for chasers:

Hi Tom,

I lived down in SD for 3 years and there is no way you can chase without an airplane or mabee a real fast speed boat. The roads and highways are not suited for that, besides the speed limit for the trains is as high as 90 mph. My best advise is pick a spot and wait.

BTW- my dad and aunt will be rideing so I may pick a spot too as I will be down there next weekend.

Good luck.[8D]
