I’m looking at buying the LaBelle wood kit passenger cars, but they do not come with trucks. There are posts on some of their other kits, but I am looking at the 1900 series (HO-4, HO-5, HO-10).

What truck type should I get?

Is there a manufacturer that makes this truck type?
I built those kits years ago. Then I used Central Valley 4-wheel top beam truck sets. T-25’s. I imagine that with a little poking around, or Ebay diligence, you could still find at least 3 sets for your nice cars.

Hello Jim,
The Walthers 933-1077 4-wheel trucks for heavyweight cars are similar to the old Central Valley T-25 trucks and likely much easier to find. I don’t like the shiny round screw heads on top of the Walthers truck bolsters, but if you replace those screws with 1-72 flathead machine screws you can countersink the screw heads and paint them to match the trucks so they won’t be obvious.
Good luck with your passenger cars,
Andy
If looking around for older options: Roundhouse made the “Old Timer 4 Wheel Wood Beam” trucks, # 2936. They had put these under their old-time passenger cars. The shiny delrin needs a little weathering, but they are very free-rolling.
