Hi all i’m looking at picking up a couple of labelle intururban car kits. [:)][:)]I realize that these are craftsman type kits but from the research and pictures i’ve seen they don’t seem to bad. any thoughts? TB[^][?]
I’ve built a couple of their old-time passenger cars and I think they are pretty nice kits. Also I would say they are on the low end of the scale in terms of craftsman-kit difficulty although of course still much more time-consuming than a plastic kit with one-part carbody. I did find that buying a few metal detail parts enhanced the kit considerably.
I am still a bit daunted by the Labelle kits. The fact that one has to buy separate couplers, trucks and power is a bit off-putting, as is the whole custom-fabricating roof lines and such. I have a couple that I’m going to build Real Soon Now.
thanks for the input guys any special painting requirements some of the laser cut biuldings I’ve built are thin and can warp is this a conncern with these critters? I usually go with polyscale water based paints for any of my painting. TB
Any wood will warp when you paint it with water-based paints–I’d recommend priming it with lacquer-based spray primer (I prefer Tamiya’s spray primer myself) to protect the wood from warpage before you paint.

Do any of you guys think that the extra $8 bucks for the roof rounding kits are worth it or are they not to bad to do. sorry just asking?
you will need a small wood file and other files to round roofs, perhaps the kit has
a few templates tho to help?
