I’m wondering if there was ever a time one could go by train from Scranton to Bloomsburg (I’m a Scranton native and went to college in Bloomsburg), and whether it was practical for college students to do this.
I’m also curious, regarding this expedition, if the SD38 sounds anything like the GP38-2’s I used to ride behind on LIRR. Those LIRR workhorses, despite what seemed like very poor maintenance, had a great sound, and were amazingly reliable, excepting when the pedestal for the engineer’s seat snapped on one eastbound evening run.
