LAJ Los Angeles Junction railway

Another bad weather day forced me to spend the afternoon surfing for ATSF CF7 information also also thrown up in the search results was info and photos about the LAJ CF7’s. I found the few bits of info very interesting but very thin on the ground does anyone throw some more light on the LAJ.

many thanks

Shaun

This is a great prototype for folks interested in switching. I’ve done a layout design based on the LAJ and there is some information our there. One readily avaialble source is the article in MR magazine, March 1996.

An even more complete article is found in the publication of the Santa Fe Railroad Historical and Modeling Society, the Warbonnet, Volume 9, No. 3, 3rd Quarter, 2003. This article included photos, history, and track/industry maps.

Well it seems as my back collection of MR is going to grow yet again and the ATSF historical society keeps cropping up with reference to questions I ask within this forum, so it sounds as if it is worth joining.

Hi Shaun,

We’d be happy to have you in the Santa Fe society. You can join online at atsfrr.net.

so long,

Andy

whywaites,

Have you checked these web sites about the LAJ that Google turns up?

Absolutely it is worth joining. The Warbonnet (magazine) is an amazing resource for the Santa Fe modeler. Great articles, incredible photos, and it’s all about the Santa Fe…how can you go wrong?

A Christmas present from my wife I think.

Shaun

I remember a story about the LAJ in MR a few years ago with a paint shop article about detailing a Rail Power CF-7 shell into a LAJ model, i can not remember what issue it was, but it has to be around 1996 or so.
