Landed a new job....Here we go again.....

Got a job at the Modine radiator plant here in Tn. through a temp agencey.
It’s above average pay for a really good company and the work isn’t too bad.
I’m working third shift and the night goes by REALLY quick! I just hope this one lasts more than a month or two.[V]. (boss likes me and said job could last for a year) Not getting my hopes up though. Hope this leads to full time permanent job. At least I’ll have some ca***o buy train stuff for a bit.
Wish me luck!!!

Good Luck.

Hope it works out the way you want. Good luck, Loathar.

Loather,
this is my opinion, but have you ever thought of leaving the area in which you live and move to a place where there are plenty of jobs?..I had to do that to keep up with this expensive hobby…i live in the houston area and sure it’s people on top of people here and the freeways really blow, but at least there are plenty of jobs in this area …if i lost my job at this plant that i’ve been working at for the past 23 years, chances are, i’d have another one in a couple of weeks at the most…even though it’s not my idea of a great place to live, the jobs pay well enough to make a living at it in this area…chuck

congratz !

remember not to spend all your money on trains … you know just in case

Good luck, hope this leads to a permanent job!

Focus! Nail this one so that if it falls apart around you, your boss will still be willing to give you a solid (recent) reference for getting the next job. That will really help you to keep employment in the long term.

So, if you can stand some advice, forget trains for now. Focus on the work, and when you get comfortable and more stable, your mind will let you turn to trains and you will also be in a better position to enjoy them. More bang, more BUCKS!!

Congrats Loathar! Hope this one works out well for you. Some good advice already posted, but remember to keep the balance in life. Enjoying what you are doing at work (and at play) is far more important than making a lot of money and living and working in a place you don’t like. I had a summer job a couple of years ago working for a non-profit group that I have been a supporter of for many, many years. After one summer I knew that this was not fun! So I turned in my resignation. They were not happy, but still don’t get the point. They have had 4 people in the position in 4 years… All I am saying is to enjoy your work and your hobby. [;)]

I’m wishing you luck.

CWCLARK-I think about leaving every day. Unfortunatrly I’m stuck here taking care of my elderly mother.I have standing offers from two companies I used to work for up north to come back for twice what I can earn here. It’s just a bum deal for right now.[V]

yeah…sometimes it’s hard to get away from a given situation…but maybe someday it can happen…i was stuck in Norfolk for two years after discharge from uncle sam’s navy before i got enough saved up to get back to texas…but after i got enough saved , i got here as fast as i could…oh by the way…congrats on the new job…beats not having one by a long shot…chuck

Glad to hear about the new job–let’s hope the boss is so impressed that it lasts MORE than a year. You deserve some good luck, I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Good luck, I hope your mother improves also.

It seems that I have the opposite problem…too many jobs. I have a full-time job and 5(soon to be 6) part-time jobs. Not surprisingly, I have little time for my trains, my wife, my dog, etc [:(]

The good news is that at this rate I’ll be debt-free sometime in 2026 [:D]
