Landscaping question

I have been sprinkling ground cover, grass, and fine turf, into wet, earth colored, latex paint. I saw on another site, where someone mixed white glue into the latex paint, then sprinkled the gound covers into it. Is this necessary? I seem to be getting good results with just the wet paint. The white glue seems to be an unneccessary step. Any ideas.

I only add white glue when glueing stuff to hard shell.

If it’s a permanent layout and it seems to work fine then just use paint.
The advantage of adding white glue would be if it’s a layout that get’s taken to shows, where the scenery needs to be a little tougher and be stuck down better, as it can be exposed to wind and rain occasionally.

Two methods that I use, depending on what part of the layout I’m working on. On areas that are away from places that hands are going to be (along the front of the layout and along the extension) I use a 50/50 mix of white glue and water then sprinkle on the scenic material. For other areas I use the wet paint.

Thanks for the replies, guys.

Popeye,

The advantage I find with using glue (dilute white or matte medium) is as you spread the scenery material added alcohol or wet water can be used to glue added scenery while your still working the area. The paint would have to dry first before applying additional material as not to have runny paint make a mess.

I will spread the glue over an already colored base. I find it allows me better control of layering and color variations.
