Larry's Truck & Electric

Does anyone have a full listing of all the power that LTEX has recieved in the past year? Or does anyone have a full listing of all power that they have currently?

Dave

Extra2200South keeps tabs on that sort of thing…

I know they got some of WC SD45’s and they have a lot of SW1500’s

Well, for the most part, I have a complete list of WC’s that went to them. I was all-together wondering what they have all purchased. I guess i’ll have to catch up on the latest Extra2200South to see what they got in there.

The following are former Wisconsin Central units sold to LTEX. They inlcude there status at up to date as possible. Most of course are scrapped and in hundreds of pieces. Some are able to be leased out.

Larry’s T&E was great! The Erie Lackawanna Historical Society had their annual meeting in Youngstown last fall, and a tour of Larrys was part of it. I thought it would be a ride through, but basically small groups were able to wander around through the whole place!! Lots of WC SD’s there, along with a bunch of sorry looking SP EMD’s-
an old C&NW GP7/9 and probably 100+ switchers, all sorts of SW and NWs, including one of UP’s home brewed SW10’s (a new one for me). And parts everywhere! Now I just need to convince the wife that an old hood from an SW series would make a great backyard shed! Perfect size for the mower!

I had the same idea only with a former WC cab[:)]! There isn’t anything you can’t get from LTE.

One day in our msn messenger chat group Nora was giving us links that showed pics from Larry’s. I am not sure it is was a website for Larry’s or just a person showing his own pics. They did have a ton of switchers tho.

Places like Larry’s Truck & Electric are always facinating to many guys, just like automobile junk yards were to me as a younger man while trying to get parts for my '62 VW Beetle. I’s sure like to see a story on LT&E in TRAINS magazine (hint, hint editors). Eolanfan

That would be great if TRAINS could do a story on LTE. I do agree that many people are facinated with “Railroad Junkyards” to see what kind of power they can find, kinda like a scavenger hunt. Good thing now is, CN has stopped selling WC’s for a while so hopefully no more will be put to death.

Anyone know the status of the FP45 that was on the premises?

On last check, one of the Canadian railroads was considering purchsing her but it’s been a long while.

Anyone have the info?

They should Scrapped them old things sent them to Steel Mills over seas make some money.[8D]

I saw a tunnel motoe (a SD45T-2 i think) on a UP train heading west near Santa Rosa NM a few weeks ago. it was all black with a LTE logo on the side. twas pretty cool looking. does anyone have any links to a picture of a loco like this? it would be fun to make a model of one.

i wonder what a an old AAR controll stand would go for… it dosnt even have to have all the pipeing… just the gagues …handles and brake valves…be a nice thing to have for the model railroad club…

I do know that they took alot of SD’s from DMIR up here in Duluth, MN. Might have a couple of T-3’s. ( SD40T-3) They took alot of SD38’s that were outdated on the Missabe.

Was its number 8308 or 8318? I saw an all black SD40T-2 (long nose) a few months back. It was LTEX 8308, or 8318, (if I remember correctly), that was probably its old SP number.

F [censored]the club.

It would be nice to have in these new locomotives rolling off the production line.[%-)] At my shortline I crawled up in the cab on a BNSF unit on a coal train. Thats not a locomotive, thats an airplane thats to heavy for take off. [4:-)] Real control stands are on your side or have a steam gauge. [C):-)]

Here is a link I found of their roster. Last updated on 27 Dec 04’ so it should be pretty up to date.
