Today is my last day at the Fond du lac roundhouse. I accepted a job with the Montreal Maine & Atlantic. I have a side job to do in Colorado ( looking for mudchicken) then I will be moving to Maine. This brings to a close 12 years in one one place… bittersweet is a good word to describe this. I will likely be offline beginning sept 25 or so and will try to be back by OCT 10 or so. I am extending an open invitation to anyone , to visit me at the Derby shops as I am the new manager of locomotive maintenence.

Good luck and am I glad you are sticking with railroading!
Coming out here to look at the engine on Ed Burkhardt’s toy shortline? Or going up to 10,000 feet to practice shoveling snow?
Watch out for el gato Mookie & Driver whilst zooming along I-80 in Lincoln on your way here.!!!
Chalk up Fond Du Lac as a good learning experience and now outdo yourself at Derby. …and above all else, enjoy what you do! (otherwise, why bother?)
Go for it!

Randy-
I may take you up on that. When you get settled, please drop me an e-mail. I know quite a few folks up there…

Randy,
My business and vacation travels have taken me everywhere in the lower 48, except the New England states. They are on the list, and now I have another reason to go.
Good luck at the new place.
We’ll see you on the forum.

I hate shoveling snow… I am going to repair an SW-8 and I am flying out… first to denver to Co. springs and then drive to Monte Vista. Meet me in Monte Vista MC ?

Good Luck Randy! I think Maine will be a nice place to live! Can’t be any worse than Colorado/Nebraska in winter.

Thanks for all your good work here in Fondy, Randy.[:D]
Glad to hear you’re leaving for a hopefully better job without the threat of layoff.[}:)]
And maybe you left some of your expertise with the guys here at Shops Yard…a few of whom I know…[;)]
Keep us informed on what’s happening with Mr. Burkhardt’s new enterprise…[8D]
Good luck.
I was lucky enough to tour the Fond du Lac shops as part of an NMRA meet tour years ago. Quite a place, an historic location – lots of skills were called upon. I later learned my camera was on the fritz and almost none of my shots turned out alas – and it won’t happen again.

That green and yellow thing? Gonna be in Monte Vista around a weekend? Otherwise I gotta figure out a reason to go see J.D. -Checked your e-mail?
At least take a look at the ultimate critter in Blanca (SSLV D-500) on the way on US-160.
