Latest covered hopper projects

While looking at prototype pictures for my fleet, I realized I had to notch the sill on the b end of one of my Athearn Genesis hoppers. It was realatively easy and I think it only took me 5-10 minutes. Once Athearn comes out with the CMO hoppers I will have to do the same, although Im not sure how to approach the different roof walk. Heres a couple of pictures.

Another project I started on is to convert an Athearn Genesis Trinity 5161 hopper into an ARI T5200 hopper. Although this has taken much longer to do than my previous car project, I am satisfied with my progress. Tomorrow I will order decals for it through Oddball Decals and by the time they arrive I should have all the unused mounting holes plugged and sanded and then I can paint it. Heres pictures.

I can say that the car you are modifying is going to look good

I know it has been awhile since there was a reply to this topic so I apologize for bringing it back to life but I just finished up my ARI T5200 project and thought Id share the results with the community. Hopefully by the end of the week Ill have it weathered. Comments are welcomed, Thanks

Why apologise for showing off such excellent work?[tup]Can’t wait to see it weathered.

With out any hint or word from any manufacturers plans to make this car, I decided to make another one. Learning from my mistakes, I took slightly different approches on the ends of the car which I think helped to make it more flush and square. Ill share a couple pictures for now but I took progress photos and notes during assembly, do you think it would be publishable or would it only sastisfy a market too small to publish? Thanks

that’s a really nice looking car!
