Laying Turn Outs

I searched for an answer to this question and couldn’t find one. I want to lay my turn outs initially so I can remove them later. I tried butting the rails of the turn out to the flextrack but had touble with keeping the same rail height. I’m using WS foam roadbed.

I thought I’d use rail joiners and leave a gap the width of a razor saw so I could cut the joiners and remove the turnout when needed.

Does this make sense or is there a better way??

Thanks,

Bob

The best way would be to keep a full jointer amount of ties cut off the flex track. Then when you would want to remove the turnout you can slide the jointer (with a small flathead screwdriver) from half on the turnout and half on the flex track to fully on the flex track.

This method of sliding the jointers is something that I have used before on my Free-mo module bridge rails.

Hey Chris,

Great idea. I’ve laid 4 turnouts using your method and am working on some staiit track now. The turnouts were holding me up.

Thanks a lot !!!
