Layout destruction

Well I spent the day tearing down 90% of the old layout.

Got the new one designed just got to start some cutting and building.

Sounds like you’ll be busy for a while! I just finished installing the last of my cork roadbed on my first layout. Now I have to sand it to smooth it out, and I’ll be ready to start laying track. Seems like I’ve been building this freakin’ thing forever. Can’t wait until I can actually run some trains on it!

By the way, I think there’s something wrong with your picture link. I even tried cutting and pasting the URL into my browser and it still didn’t seem to work right - it brought me to a login page.

Cheers, and happy 4th,

yeah I will have to sit and fiddle with this whole picture posting thing.

There should be a SIG for people like us who are forever building but don’t get to the running trains stage. [:D] My buddy claims I’ll always be building my layout and that I’ll die before I ever get to run a train on it. Of course, he’s not a model railroader, so he doesn’t understand the pleasures of the building stage of a layout.

Running trains? Oh yeah, I do that! Back and forth, right?

Well I have started the new layout benchwork and boy why didnt I do it this way the first time?!
basically a 2 foot shelf all the way around the room attach it to the studs in the wall a few angle braces and its all good. Its going up really easy

At least you are rebuilding. I had the unfortunate experience of destructing three layouts in 2003 that was a one way proposition. One was the HO scale Southern Arizona & Douglas. It had been featured in one of the national magazines. The last image I have of it was a large wad of rail hanging out over the top of a dumpster. Very sad day for the SAD.
