layout help

hey all, first off im glad to say im starting back in the hobby after a 10 year hiedus. it feels awesome! but now for the serious questions. i am starting a lay out of the williamsburg, ohio section of the old norfolk & western railway. i have done as much reasearch as i can and im drawing some blanks… i need to know where the original passenger station was placed as far as what side of the tracks. as well as that i was wondering if any of you had some good info on that section? if not thats fine… by the way i have some pics to share soon of some awesome artifacts and scenery of the area so stay tuned.

What station are you talking about? N&W probably had a dozen or more along that line. There were larger passanger/freight combo stations and buches of simple platforms. Be a little more specific and I can go over to the NS building in Norfolk next week and maybe dig around a little in the museum archives…[swg]

it is the williamsburg station. im tryin to figure out what street it was closest to and if it was on the north or south side of the tracks.

I’ll look around for the Williamsburg Ohio section of the N&W. In the mean time, why not contact the historical society? Here is the info:

The Ohio Historical Society:
Address: 1982 Velma Avenue, Columbus, OH 43211
Telephone: 614-297-2300
Toll-free: 800-686-6124

They would be the best source for your inquiry.

Maptech has historical topo maps of Ohio online for free. You can probably get some idea looking there. http://historical.mytopo.com/index.cfm?CFID=10848764&CFTOKEN=95182554
