Hey Bob, how did you weather that engine? It looks great. I tried my first chalk weathering attempt today with… less than stellar results, haha. I scraped off powder with my hobby knife, and it worked good for making rust-colored truck springs, but when I tried covering an old covered hopper, it wasn’t so good because the powder wasn’t fine enough; it collected as really tiny beads, sort of. Should I have pulverized it first? Also, I was using a really stiff brush, because thats what the Sierra Scale Models directions suggest on their site (i was using regular pastel chalks). I was looking back today afterwards at pictures of… i forget who it was showing their method with powder, but they were using a makeup brush, kind of like the one old barbers used to lather on shaving cream. Is that the way to go?
