Layout Plan

To all,

Thank you for all your inputs.

As soon as I can get my wife comfortable (she is dying from liver cancer) I will try the suggestions.

This may be awhile as she is in stage 4 with the cancer.

Also I have tried my LHS and they really don’t have anybody that is into model railroading. There is a club here but you have to be someone before they will talk to you. They main do swap meets once a month.

Mac,

I’m really sorry to hear it. It’s a shame when real life rears it’s head and forces us to deal with painful issues. I hope everything goes as well as it can. I’ll be thinking good thoughts in your direction.

John

For starters what city and state are you in?

Hamltnblue,

I live in Memphis, TN.

Actually at this point I should probably say I live in the state of confusion.

Mac

My father also had Liver Cancer, so I understand what you’re going through. It’s difficult to deal with. My thoughts are also with you and your family.

The great thing about this forum is that there are a number of people to bounce ideas off of and who are happy to offer some assistance.

Mac,

we just lost a dear friend to liver cirrhosis. Our feelings and prayers are with you, your wife and your family .

Mac,

I lost my father to leukemia 7 years ago… and it still hurts. When he was diagnosed at 70, the docs gave him 12-18 months. He finally succumbed 6 years later, most of which was good, quality time. That’s probably too much to hope for your wife, but I’ll wish for it anyway.

You have my deepest sympathy. Once you get over this hurdle, come on back, and we’ll get you up and running trains!

[angel] [A] Sorry to hear of the reason for the status of your layout.

MAny prayers and thoughts with you and yours at this time and in what the future brings. [angel]

And we understand that thinking about trains is helping to keep your mind off of other things.

You’ll be needed at home so I wouldn’t consider the club at this point. I think I’d get a few trains.(maybe N scale) and set up a very small inconspicuous layout and spend a little time just running when you can.

Then when you have time in the future dive into it.

In the mean time give the wife all the attention you can. It must be very hard on her for sure and a little TLC can go a long way, and you’ll thank yourself in the future for doing so.

Good Luck.
