Talk about your layout here.
My layout is going to be constructed in several phases. Phase 1 is a 5x9 section with a small peninsula. I hope to have it constructed before the end of April. I will post pictures of the progress as it happens. Phase 1 will be a smaller town with many smaller industries and a major industry, like a (condensed) paper mill. i’ve gotten as far as the benchwork, but i am still progressing.[8D][8D][8D][8D][8D][8D][8D][8D][8D][8D]
I’d love to, if it actually existed[:D]. I just recently got the climate-controlled space for it. Now it’s time to remove the clutter so I can fini***he benchwork. Then maybe I can start posting some pictures…
Well…I have the same issue as Ken…no finished area for the layout, but I ACTUALLY have the space…it is just the current “dump-all” area in a storage garage ( 12 x 12).
I also discovered today an issue with the layout that I’ve chosen. In the “Basic Model Railroading” book by Kalmbach ( pg 74,75) the 4x8 ply is cut in a special way to change the shape of the layout. In repositioning the cut “triangles” from the 4x8, you still end up with 32 sq. ft, but in another format. However, I also have the original plan from the Jan 1961 MR that shows the triangles in the opposite order as in the “Basic” book. I had to draw it on graph paper and cut it out and try arranging the pieces. The “Basic” book is obviously wrong and will not arrive at the configuration of the original plan. (Boy, am I glad I found this now…) This will not stop me from doing the layout, but I sent an email off to Kalmbach to let them know of the issue.
However, I still need to clean out and insulate, then sheetrock and then benchwork, then… you get the picture. I’m having problems finding time to get started.
