My friends and I have finished phase one of my new layout. Now I can in a manner of speaking raise the drawbridge so I can exit my home via the ramp instead of the stairs on the other side. I can either roll under it in my wheelchair or walk under it using my walker. The lift uses a pair of double blocks but I may decide to increase the leverage by going with a set of triple blocks. Right now the only downside is that I have to remove all rolling stock from the layout before lifting. Once I get the extension built I will simply move all rolling stock and locos to the portion that remains level.
Bob, that is one way to get around the problem or should I say under it.

Looks great Bob! There is no obstacle that can’t be overcome!!! [tup]

Looks pretty good. You even have the fascia done and colored. Im assuming that (and the trees poking up above the fascia) means that you have some scenery done as well? Could we get some photos of that?
As I reported in an earlier post I bought the layout from a friend who had purchased it several years ago from another friend. It was designed as a modular pike that could be disassembled to be taken to shows. We have more or less permanently assembled now for strength. As built it was scenic’d as a desert layout. Since I live in the southeast and model southeastern railroads I am in the process of greening it up and adding a huge number of trees. Here are a few shots of the top surface,
I will take some shots of the corner I have started greening up and post them later.
You have a nifty solution, and well executed, Bob. Congratulations. You must be a happy railroader these days.

Well here’s the latest shots of my layout progress. I probably won’t get any more done before the forum shut down.
And finally here is a shot of some of my loco roster.
Looking forward to more up dates Bob. Looks like a fun layout. I like what you have got done as far as greening up the layout.
