Layout progress

putting up a temporary operational “viaduct”, basically so I can visualize things how its working then also its real streetcar curve trackage while I work on equipment and the actual trackage off layout. This section has (will have) a 3-way Union where streetcar trackage can go any direction 3 ways. To the left goes towards Chicago, to the right loops around to the North Shore station Milwaukee). The electroliner is on the loop, the 2 cars are on the reverse loop. The North Shore curves above over the passenger tracks in front of the Milwaukee road station. Kinda obstructs the view but not entirely, your gonna see theres a station back there. Looking more Chicago like but well, there ya go.

That’s a good start; looks like there are a lot of Micro Engineering viaducts to build in your future. [;)]

just finished up an all day workathon, heres some results.

The test loop is up and running, Liner on the viaduct powered up runs great on it.

Here’s the area for the North Shore Milwaukee station.

First 3 tracks from left at the station are passenger, last 2 on right are Merchandise Express/storage, you might say the North Shore UPS/Fedex service. Those 2 tracks have to be lower. The station tracks have inspection pits. (not here yet, gotta build it!)

The mainline double track at the bottom is the start of the switchwork that has to go into the station, them curves are 10 inch, baybee. The double track will switch off and curve to the right at 10 inch radius and the complicated switchwork will get to the tracks at the station. This while the curving off tracks start a downhill lean.

Underneath all this is the Milwaukee road, the 0-8-0 is curving off the Carfloat lead on the reverse loop that connects back to the yard. I will figger out the right scenick thing to do, I recently found out Milwaukee was planning a subway system, and guess what, it would tunnel under the area of the North Shore Depot. Never happenned tho.

I’m thinking about putting a freight terminal at this level, make some switching interest other than the carfloat, there were freight terminals around the station area, so it fits.

I made some vids will post them later.
