how big is your layout in feet and meters?
I just recalculated the size and it is really 6000 square feet or 2000 square meters…
I have not started building yet but the space I have available is 36 sq m or @400 sq Ft [:)]
Are you sure of your calculations? 10 ft. X 100 ft. = 1000 sq. ft., so your layout would have to be six times bigger than this. My layout is 10 ft. X 20 ft. which is 200 sq. ft. I would love to have more room as it seems that you cannot have enough space. I’m in HO scale and use 24" minimum radius curves.
My layout is 210 sq ft. or about 20 sq meters. BTW 1 sq meter is about 10 1/2 sq ft.
Enjoy

It fills a 60’ x 30’ area of the basement. Mainline is 600’ long, staging for 48 trains, total track over 2700’.
It measures 81" by 78"… all of it !
Just a little under 300sq. ft. when finished with the bench work. It’s just a rough estimate, I’m looking at about 12 x 24 but I change my mind like the wind with more ideas.
Mine measures out at 3162 sq. ft. Double deck around walls single deck in center peninsula with helper grade to access upper deck. ----------- Ken McCorry
8 square feet, I guess that would be a bit less than one square meter. I’m currently taking a break from it to work on a 4 square foot diorama.
I think the math is a little off. A square yard is 9 square feet and a meter is a little more than a yard. A square meter is about 11 square feet. 6000 / 10 is 600 so 6000 / 11 is less than that. Something around 550 square meters. The problem is you didn’t square the meters. It’s easy to get carried away when you’re 12 years old. Sixth grade is it?[swg]
I remember having big dreams back then. At age 43 i think I may have more than I can handle with 2000 square feet, lets not get into meters.
If you saw the other topic, he’s talking about an outdoor tennis court. So he really means 6000 square feet.[:0] That’s 50’ x 120’ .
My layout in my basement is 38’ x 46’. That’s only 1748 square feet, but the plan is double decked, and indoors. If I went out in the back yard, I could have about an acre.[swg]
Mine is 5’x9’, or 45 sq. ft.
108 square feet here.
But remember, it’s not the size that counts, it’s how you use it that matters! [;)]

My overall space now is 11 x 11 [^] but I haven’t calculated the actual layout area yet.
146 sq feet
but if I could get the car out of the garage I could do better
